I didn't start out knowing how to breed a horse
I’m Camilla, founder of The Equestrian Collective. Horses have been a big part of my life since childhood, but I didn’t own my first horse until I was 32.
When I later dreamed of a very special horse but couldn’t afford to buy one, I decided to breed one instead. That decision eventually gave me Disa, the foal in this photo, and she started a learning experience that changed far more than I expected.
When I began planning that first breeding, I quickly discovered how difficult it was to find practical information about the whole horse breeding process. I could find plenty about pregnancy and foaling, but much less about how the decisions, preparation, and different stages fit together.
That experience became the beginning of The Equestrian Collective.
Today, I share what I’ve learned to help horse owners and breeders understand the process, organise their plans, and make thoughtful decisions throughout their own breeding journey.

I believe every equestrian dreaming of breeding a foal deserves the knowledge and support to explore that possibility.
